Qualitative research in spanish journals in sport sciences (2007-2011)

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the status of qualitative research in sport sciences in Spain, from an analysis of 1057 articles published between 2007 and 2011 in Spanish journals of the field indexed in Scopus. The results show that only 3.5% of the papers used a qualitative methodology, and mostly used the interview as a data collection technique. In conclusion, qualitative research is still in its early stages in the field of sport sciences in Spain.
