Psychometric properties of the brazilian version of the BRUMS scale for basketball referees
Abstract
The aim of this study was to verify the psychometric properties of the BRUMS mood scale for basketball referees, with performance inside court or as table officials, through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA). Participated 308 referees and 83 table officials registered in the Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB), n=391, 67.3% males, ranging from 18 to 65 years old, M=33.12 and SD=9.79, who answered to the BRUMS scale validated for Brazilian athletes by Rohlfs (2008). The AFE indicated the presence of four emotional states, two equals the original version (fatigue and vigor), and two new factors, instability emotional (depression-anger) and preoccupation (tension-confusion). The alpha index indicated satisfactory internal consistency of the four factors. The results indicated that the BRUMS-AB scale has good psychometric properties that give it evidence of validity and reliability for its use in the context of basketball refereeing.
